Breaks are a very essential part of every work day. Yup, I said it. If you aren't taking breaks throughout your day, you're just working yourself towards burnout. There are many different schools of thought on when you should take breaks during your work: The Pomodoro Technique, The Flowtime Technique, The 52/17 Method, etc. For me personally, what works best for me is to take my breaks at the end of large tasks or hourly. I have always struggled with taking breaks because if I'm at my computer, I just can't help but to get something done or reply to an email that pops up. Over time I have come up with some types of breaks that work well for me and I've decided to share my very favorite types of breaks with you today.

Lizard Time

My all-time favorite break is lizard time! You know how lizards just lay on logs in the sun and don't move and simply soak in the warmth? It's just that. At my current office, the sun shines straight through the window onto my spot for about 20 minutes a day and when that happens I drop everything and soak in the sun.

Hot Girl Walks

If you've ever been on TikTok, you've surely seen someone going on a hot girl walk. There's nothing extraordinary about this walk, it's just a walk with a cute name lol. For me, this break is mostly about physically getting out of the office and

Game Time

This break typically coincides with my lunch so that I can stop myself from working through my lunch break. I spend this break playing some word games: Betweenle, Connections, and Strands. These games keep my brain warm without working it hard enough to not give me a nice break.

Writing This Blog

This blog has become something very dear to me and a vital break in my day. While some of the topics I write about are very linked to work, they're also a way to work through the thoughts in my head in a casual and fun way.
